NCAA Track & Field Championships: Mighten is In

LAGRANGE, Ga. – Freshman Ryheem Mighten (Kingston, Jamaica) of the LaGrange College men's track and field team has been formally announced as a qualifier for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Mighten, who earlier this season was voted the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Rookie of the Year after an outstanding first season in LaGrange that saw him win two gold medals at the CCS Championships in April, was announced as a qualifier in the men's 200-meter dash this past weekend. His time of 21.16 at the Emory Twilight Qualifier on May 6th broke his own school record in that event and sees him become the first Panther to qualify for the NCAA's in the program's inaugural season.

"Ryheem is a great example of what this program can and will be." LaGrange head coach Cire Campbell said of his star freshman. "When a talented, hard-working person, with desire and passion connect to a good system, it will always result in growth and success."

As of this writing, Mighten held the LaGrange school records in the men's 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes, as well as leading off for the men's record-setting 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 4 x 400-meter relay teams.
