LAGRANGE, Ga. – Freshman
Ryheem Mighten (Kingston, Jamaica) of the LaGrange College men's track and field program was voted the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Rookie of the Year after an inaugural season that saw the Panthers land a combined six athletes on All-Conference list, with two from the men's team and four from the women's team.
Mighten capped off his rookie campaign by winning the men's 200-meter and 400-meter dash events at the CCS Championships this past week. He broke his own school record in the 400-meters with a time of 47.81 while also clocking in at 21.57 in the 200. Those times also saw him make first team All-CCS honors.
Freshman
Khristian Bell (Tyrone, Ga.) earned All-CCS first team accolades with first place finishes in the women's long jump (5.22 meters) and the women's triple jump (11.16 meters) in a performance that broke her own LaGrange record.
Freshman
A'mya Hill (Fitzgerald, Ga.) joined Bell in the first team as she claimed first in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.32 at the CCS finals. She also took second in the 200-meter dash, coming in with a time of 26.11.
Bell and Hill also led the women's 4 x 100-meter relay team with a time of 49.59, joined by freshman
Kevanique Hill (George Town, Cayman Islands) and freshman
Jillian Coney (Atlanta, Ga.), all qualifying for CCS All-Conference first team honors.
Freshman
Fabian Coleman (Atlanta, Ga.) earned second team All-CCS honors after a second-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.91.
Freshman
Jaylah Ortiz (Atlanta, Ga.) was named to the CCS All-Sportsmanship women's track and field team while Coleman made the men's All-Sportsmanship team.
The Panthers get at least one more meet in, that coming on Wednesday when they travel to the Emory Qualifier in Atlanta.
