Tickets Punched: Panthers Prepare For CCS Basketball Playoffs

The road to the title runs through Mariotti

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's and men's basketball teams are both scheduled to compete in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Championship Tournament next week with the conclusion of their games on Saturday.

The Panthers of the LaGrange women's basketball team (18-7, 14-2 CCS) have clinched the number one overall seed in their playoffs bracket, going 14-2 in conference play.

The team is led by senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.), who has claimed three CCS Player of the Week awards this season after averaging 17.1 points per game with 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Battle opened her 2025-2026 season by reaching the 1000 career point milestone and hasn't let up since. At press time, her 428 points scored this season rank her sixth in school history while her 1389 career points rank her third in LaGrange history.

Senior power forward Amanda Mclendon (Orlando, Fla.) was a force inside for the Panthers all season, averaging 13.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game with eight double-doubles and one Player of the Week award.

The Panthers will host the semifinals and finals of the CCS Championship playoffs next Friday and Saturday at the Mariotti Gymnasium on the LaGrange College campus. They will face the winner of Tuesday's Maryville-Piedmont quarterfinals game on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Should LaGrange prevail, they will play for the conference championship on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

The Panthers of the LaGrange men's basketball team (14-11, 5-7 CCS) clinched the fourth seed in their tournament bracket after pulling out a 68-62 win over Asbury University on Saturday.

LaGrange is led by senior guard Devin Dowell (LaGrange, Ga.) who averaged 14.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Senior guard Micah McAllister (Newnan, Ga.) is averaging 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while sophomore forward Kani Rashied-Henry (Tyrone, Ga.) enjoys a breakout season averaging 10.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game while shooting 57.7 percent from the floor.

With their victory on Saturday, the Panthers will host Asbury in the tournament's 4 vs. 5 quarterfinals game on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Mariotti.
