Historic Season Comes to End for Women’s Basketball in NCAA’s

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The LaGrange College women's basketball team saw their historic 2025-2026 season come to an end on Friday evening in the first round of the NCAA Championship Tournament, losing 78-52 to the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse at the Van Male Fieldhouse on the Carroll University campus in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

A HISTORIC SEASON
  • The 2025-2026 season was the best-ever for the Panthers, as they won the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Championship, the first conference title in the history of the program, and with it their first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. This after having been picked to finish fifth in the CCS Coaches' Preseason Poll. Senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) was voted the CCS Player of the Year and the CCS Defensive Player of the Year, leading the Panthers to the number one seed in the championship tournament and eventually claiming CCS Tournament Most Valuable Player honors. Joining Battle on the All-CCS first team was senior power forward Amanda Mclendon (Orlando, Fla.), who posted nine double-doubles this season. Freshman guard Adazhah Burrell (Melbourne, Fla.) earned second team All-CCS honors. First year LC head coach Steve Kenner was voted the CCS Coach of the Year award.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Battle concluded her incredible season and career, leading the Panthers with 18 points, three rebounds and three assists.
  • Mclendon posted ten points, six boards and three steals in her final game.
  • LaGrange freshman guard Deasia Stinson (Newnan, Ga.), who earned CCS All-Tournament team honors last Saturday, concluded her rookie season with five points and six rebounds.
  • UW Lacrosse sophomore forward Molly Janke (Ellsworth, Maine) led the Eagles with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
  • UWL senior Malia Nelson (Dover, Minn.) posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
