LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's soccer team is gearing up for their 2025 season under second year head coach
Kaine Baker.
"As a group, our program is very excited to start the upcoming season together." Baker said of this year's squad. "The team has become very close over the course of the preseason. Our goal is to use our unity and dedication to continue fostering an environment where we can keep improving as a team and maintain that growth as a program. We focus on one day at a time, but we're certainly looking forward to the season ahead."
The Panthers boast a number of returning veterans from last year's team that earned the sixth seed in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS). Baker's recruiting efforts have culminated in a talented class of ten rookies coming to the program.
The team will look to senior forward
Kaia King (Canton, Ga.) for their offensive spark. Last season saw King lead the Panthers with 11 goals and three assists, earning CCS Second Team All-Conference honors. That goal total was the most by a LaGrange player since the 2012 season. LaGrange was ranked the third best offense in the conference last year.
Junior goalkeeper
Anna Wright (Sharpsburg, Ga.) will anchor the LaGrange defense. Wright tallied a .748 save percentage last season to go along with 101 saves and two shutout victories. Her 7.21 saves per game averaged ranked her third in the conference.
The Panthers open their season on Saturday when they host Berry College in a 6:00 p.m. game at Panther Field. The CCS opener will come on September 20
th when they travel to Agnes Scott College for a 5:00 p.m. match. All eyes will be on their October 1
st home game against Belhaven who knocked LC out of the playoffs last season.
