ATLANTA, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's soccer team was dealt a tough 1-0 loss against hosts Oglethorpe University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Oglethorpe Track & Field in Atlanta, Georgia.
THE BASICS
Score: Oglethorpe 1, LaGrange 0
Records: Panthers 1-3-1, 0-0-0 CCS | Stormy Petrels 4-0-0, 0-0-0 SAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams were up to the task defensively in the first half as LC freshman goalkeeper Carsen Makuch (Marietta, Ga.) stood tall to keep the contest scoreless after one. With the two squads beginning to press in the second half to find the game's opening tally, the Stormy Petrels were fortunate enough to find enough of an opening for Gabi Plaia to deposit the eventual gam-winner into the LaGrange net off the pass from Harlow Cregar. Despite multiple late runs to equalize the match, the Panthers were unable to break through the clinching Oglethorpe defense as the Red and Black fell to 1-3-1 on the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Makuch recorded six saves on the day after facing seven shots on goal from the Stormy Petrels.
- LaGrange sophomore defender Carlee Roland (LaGrange, Ga.) tallied the only shot on goal for the Panthers.
UP NEXT
- LC returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Longview, Texas to take on the Yellowjackets of LeTourneau University.
