LAGRANGE, Ga. - The LaGrange College Women's Basketball Team is set for their biggest matchup of the season today (Feb. 28), as they hit the road to Demorest, Ga to take on the Lions of Piedmont University in the semifinal round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament. The winner will advance to the championship game to be played on Saturday (Mar. 1) at Piedmont's Cave Arena.

The Matchup
The Panthers come into this game off a huge quarterfinal win over Maryville College, besting the Scots in the postseason for the first time in the modern era (2011-Present) in a 71-69 final from the Cooper Athletic Center. What's more, LaGrange extended its winning streak to four games, their largest stretch since Dec. 15, 2024 when they won five-straight after a 59-point rout over Southeastern Baptist College. Despite dropping their two matchups with Piedmont in the regular season, the Panthers have well-proven that their efforts of finding their identity and game prior to postseason play have more than payed off, as they take on a Lions team who have not exactly entered this season's conference tournament with flying colors. Piedmont has certainly had their low moments as of late, dropping a 15-point loss to Belhaven on Feb. 1, allowing 43 points against Wesleyan and a near-loss to Huntingdon College to end the year. If there is one thing LC has the advantage heading into this contest, it's momentum, led by their two First Team All-Conference stars in Laila Battle and Zyhia Johnson.

Players to Watch
LC will definitely look to Battle and Johnson once again, as they combined for 48 points in the win over Maryville on Tuesday. Kendra Roberts will also be a key factor, as she dropped 15 points herself in addition to seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks to the Houston County High School product's ledger.

The Lions will of course look to their top-scorer in Andelin Hill, who leads the team with 336 points on the year.
