In their regular-season home opener, the Panthers battled the Stormy Petrels to a 0-0 tie. The game started fast-paced and physical, with the Panthers having good opportunities at the goal in the opening 10 minutes. 

Throughout the rest of the half, however, neither team could get a good look at goal, with Oglethorpe having a couple good free kicks, and the Panthers having troubles with offside penalties and finding the final pass to goal. 

In the second half, Kaia King started to take over the control of the game for the Panthers, but still could only get one shot on goal. The only real chance of scoring came with one minute left in the half, with Oglethorpe having a good free kick look to take the lead—but the Petrels could not convert. 

In the end, the Panthers only got off five shots on the night, compared to Oglethorpe's eight. Both teams had four shots on goal, with LaGrange using their shots more carefully, with two from King, two from Sydney Dailey and one from Abigail Miranda. 

The Panthers are winless on the year at 0-1-1, but this is the first time in school history that they have not emerged the loser to Oglethorpe. 

"This is a huge deal," said freshman defender Madison Dekker. "This is a big step forward for our program." 

LaGrange will be busy next week, with games at home Wednesday against Toccoa Falls and on Friday against Salem, with the Panthers still looking for win number one.
