LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's soccer team withstood two weather delays for an 1-0 win against visiting Mississippi University for Women in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Panther Field in LaGrange, Georgia.
THE BASICS
Score: MUW 0, LaGrange 1
Records: Panthers 1-2-1, 0-0-0 CCS | Owls 0-4, 0-0 SLIAC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just prior to the scheduled start of the game, the match start time was delayed 30 minutes due to weather conditions in the immediate area. A second delay pushed the match start time back a full hour as the Panthers and Owls attempted to stay loose and ready. Once play finally got underway, LaGrange dominated possessions and scoring attempts over the first half even as light rain fell on the field, but did not find the back of the net until the 51st minute when LC freshman forward Gabby Worthy (Bremen, Ga.) found teammate junior midfielder Charlee Hunt (Dallas, Ga.) for pass while steaking towards the goal and the junior finished for her first goal of the season and the seventh of her career to put the Panthers up 1-0. That would hold up for the final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- LC freshman goalkeeper Carsen Makuch (Marietta, Ga.) recorded one save on the day for her first career win and first career shutout.
- MWU junior goalkeeper Cam Lopez (Cancun, Mexico) posted nine stops in a valiant effort for the Owls.
- Shots on goal were 10-1 in favor of the Panthers.
- LaGrange has now gone undefeated in their last four meetings with MUW.
