Women's Soccer: Panthers win close contest against Huntingdon

Box Score

The LaGrange College Women's Soccer Team won a hard-fought battle against conference rival Huntingdon, 1-0, on Tuesday to capture back-to-back conference games.

The game started off fast, with the Hawks getting seven shots on goal in the first 30 minutes, but all were saved by goalie Leila Moss. LaGrange struggled to put up an attack, only getting one shot on goal, but the score remained tied at zero going into halftime.

The beginning of the second half was much different for the Panthers, who got off multiple shots 10 minutes in. After that, the Panthers and Hawks were in stalemate at zero, until three minutes left in the game, when Kaia King scored to make it 1-0 Panthers—and LC held on from there.

The Panthers were only outshot 10-9 in the game, as they held on with a strong backline led by reigning defensive player of the week Madison Dekker. Goalie Leila Moss provided another clean sheet with seven saves and picked up her fifth win of the season.

The Panthers, now 6-2-2, go on the road Saturday at Belhaven to look to extend their win streak to three.
