LC Women's Soccer season comes to heartbreaking end at Belhaven

The LaGrange College Women's Soccer Team (6-9-3) saw their season come to a sad close Friday night (Nov. 1) as they were eliminated from the CCS Women's Soccer Championship Tournament in the quarterfinal round by the Belhaven University Blazers (12-5-1) in a 4-1 final.

Match Details
The Panthers' game plan to start fast was brutally upended just 31 seconds into the contest, as Micah Benson cashed in on a feed from Emma Miller to give her team the lightning-quick 1-0 lead. With the rain beginning to pour down on both teams, so did the goals, as Nneka Udeh and Ally Benson traded goals less than nine seconds apart to triple their lead. The 3-0 deficit would not phase the visiting Panthers, however, as Charlee Hunt got one back for LC in the final minute of the half to make it a much more manageable 3-1 heading into the half.

Again it seemed like LaGrange's efforts to generate momentum to start the half was cut cruelly short, as Jenny Satcher regained the three-goal cushion for the Blazers to potentially ice the game. LC's offensive production was completely stymied for the remainder of the match, only registering a single shot as Belhaven walked away with the 4-1 victory to advance to the semifinals.

Top Panther Performer
Charlee Hunt, who scored the lone goal for the Panthers, finished the night with 76 minutes played and also the only shot on goal.
