Women's Soccer: Panthers pick up 4-1 USA South victory at Agnes Scott

Box Score

DECATUR, Ga. – Senior midfielder Sydney Dailey finished with two goals and sophomore forward Erica Bower added her first two assists for the LaGrange College women's soccer team during a 4-1 USA South triumph at Agnes Scott Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers (2-4-0, 1-2-0 USA South) earned their first conference win under first-year Head Coach Kennet Fosuhene. LC recorded its second consecutive victory over the Scotties (0-7-1, 0-1-0), as the Panthers prevailed, 4-0, on March 16.

"Congratulations to the ladies," said Fosuhene. "It feels good to get our first win in conference play. It was a good performance. We kept the ball well and took our chances when needed. We look forward to going again on Saturday."

During the seventh minute, sophomore midfielder Lauren Williamson stole the ball, and then sophomore defender Nikki Longmoore played a strong service to Bower in the attacking zone. Freshman midfielder Briana Suarez buried a shot from 25 yards out into the left side of the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Dailey gave LC some breathing room during the 20th minute, as she one-timed a pass from Bower into the right side of the net from the middle of the 18-yard box. Another goal by Dailey 13:01 into the second half put LaGrange in front, 3-0. Dailey stole an attempted clear by Agnes Scott, and then converted a perfectly executed give-and-go play with Bower.

The Panthers took a four-goal lead in the 66th minute on Williamson's third tally of the season. Lexi McClendon scored for the hosts with 10:36 left in regulation.

Senior goalkeeper Maurie White evened her season record at 2-2, making four saves and not allowing a single goal in 65:01 of action. LaGrange led the shots category, 21-14, and the corner kicks statistic, 6-2. The Panthers put 15 shots on net, while seven of the Scotties' shots were on target.

Dailey, Williamson, Bower and Suarez combined for 14 total shots, including nine on target. Dailey is tied for first in the USA South in assists (4), while ranking in a tie for second in goals (8) and points (20). Senior midfielder Riley Hammett is also tied for first in the conference with four assists.

LaGrange will take on Piedmont in a USA South showdown Saturday at 5 p.m. on Panther Field.
