LAGRANGE, Ga. – The sixth-seeded LaGrange College women's soccer team lost 0-0 (4-3) in a penalty shootout against host third-seeded Piedmont University in the quarterfinals of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) playoffs on Saturday afternoon at the Walker Athletic Complex in Demorest, Georgia.
THE BASICS
Score:                  #3 Piedmont 0, #6 LaGrange 0 (4-3 Piedmont in shootout)
Records:             Panthers 4-11-4, 2-4-2 CCS | Lions 15-4-1, 6-2-0 CCS
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- After a hotly contested bout earlier in the season, the rematch between LC and Piedmont seemed to deliver once again as the first half tested both teams but ultimately saw no goals as each went into halftime still knotted at 0-0.

	- The Panther offence did everything it could to find the game's opening tally, waiting for the perfect opening while also standing firm against seven Lion shots on goal in regulation. Ultimately, the deadlock resumed and would require overtime to declare a winner.

	- LC continued to hold on, as freshman goalkeeper Carsen Makuch (Marietta, Ga.) added a pair of clutch saves to keep her squad in it. The game would eventually spill into a penalty shootout, with the winner advancing to the conference semifinal round.

	- The drama of each teams' respective seasons reached their pinnacle during the penalty shootout. Makenzi Maltezo (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), Kaia King (Canton, Ga.) and Madison Dekker (Columbus, Ga.) netted the first three for LC, with Makuch making a huge save to have the Panthers up 3-2 with just a pair of kicks remaining for either side. Unfortunately for LaGrange, the host Lions were able to stop both Red and Black shots and cash in on two of their own to edge the visiting Panthers 4-3 and advance to the conference semifinal round.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
	- Makuch tallied nine saves on the night in a valiant effort for the Panthers.

	- Overall shots were 24-6 (9-2 SOG) in favor of Piedmont.

	- Gabby Worthy (Bremen, Ga.) and Carlee Roland (LaGrange, Ga.) had the lone shots on goal for LC, respectively.

UP NEXT
	- LaGrange, picked to finish seventh in the CCS preseason poll, finishes in sixth place before exiting in the conference quarterfinals. Congratulations to the entire team on a great season.
