LAGRANGE, Ga. –
Johnathan Barragan has been hired as the new head coach of the LaGrange College women's soccer program in an announcement this week by the LaGrange College athletics department.
"We are excited to welcome Johnathan to LaGrange College and to [have him] lead our Women's Soccer program." LaGrange Vice President of Athletics Matt Hayes said in a statement. "His experience at Middle Georgia State will serve him well in recruiting and elevating the program within the conference. His enthusiasm for the sport and mentoring young adults aligns with the college mission. We look forward to watching this program grow and flourish under his guidance."
Barragan comes to LaGrange from Middle Georgia State University (MGA) where he has served as an assistant coach for the past four seasons for the NCAA Division II Knights. During his tenure, the Knights reached the conference playoffs three times, including a run to the Southern States Athletic Conference semifinals in 2022.
"I would like to thank AD Hayes and the entire LC search committee for placing their trust in me." Barragan said. "I'm excited about leading the program and building a culture rooted in discipline, accountability, and success."
Prior to his time in Cochran, Barragan was an assistant coach at Point University and for Mercer University where he helped their men's team to a Southern Conference Championship. Barragan has also coached at Mount de Sales Academy, Stratford Academy, Macon Soccer Club, and Rutland High School.
Barragan joined the Knights as a walk-on in 2016 and was a student-athlete for three years. He was tied for top goal scorer in his first season and captained the team his junior and senior season.
Barragan graduated from MGA with a Bachelor's in Psychology and earned his Master's in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy. He holds a USSF B license and a Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma.
