Women's Soccer: Panthers earn first victory with 17-0 triumph over Allen

Box Score

Senior midfielder Sydney Dailey of the LaGrange College women's soccer team registered a 12-point performance, featuring four goals and four assists, during a 17-0 triumph over Allen University Tuesday afternoon on Panther Field.

The win was the first for new Head Coach Kennet Fosuhene. During the win, Dailey moved into a tie for seventh in program history in career goals (19). She sits alone in ninth in the record book with 52 career points. The Carrollton, Georgia, native set single-game personal records in goals and assists Tuesday.

In the victory, Audrey Harkness, Lauren Williamson, Jasmine Middleton, Breanna Gay, Riley Hammett, Sydney Saul, Erica Bower and Briana Suarez scored their first collegiate goals for the Panthers (1-2). Williamson, Middleton and Suarez also recorded their first college assists against the Yellow Jackets (0-2).

"It was a well-played game by the ladies Tuesday," said Fosuhene. "We talked during the pregame meeting about turning the good performances that we have had into positive results. I am pleased we did that today. This was a good win heading into two conference games this weekend."

The Panthers raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first 10 minutes and never looked back. Dailey scored a hat trick in the opening 45 minutes and Bower ended the half with back-to-back goals, sending LC into intermission with a 12-0 cushion. Goals from five different student-athletes in the second half powered the Panthers to a 17-0 win.

Goalkeepers Maurie White and Leila Moss combined for a shared shutout. Hammett, who registered her first collegiate assist against Millsaps Sunday, recorded two goals and three assists. Suarez tallied two goals and two assists, while Hamm found the back of the net twice and was credited with one assist.

The Panthers led the shots category, 40-2, and held a 26-0 advantage in shots on goal. Dailey led the way with nine total shots and six on goal.

LaGrange will begin its USA South schedule with a 2 p.m. game against Covenant Saturday on Panther Field.
