Women's Soccer: Panthers hold off Wesleyan 2-1 for first USA South win

LaGrange held off Wesleyan 2-1 on Tuesday for its first USA South win of the season. The Panthers (4-6-1, 1-3 USA South) stopped a three-game losing skid. Wesleyan slipped to 1-11-1 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard 12 minutes into the game. Dynasty Burchett sent a pass over to Gracie Amonett, who put in the back of the net for her second goal of the season. LC carried the lead into halftime, then scored two minutes into the second half. Sydney Dailey scored unassisted to up the Panthers' lead to 2-0. It was Dailey's fifth goal of the season. The Wolves cut the lead in half on Nadia Al-Shahabi's goal in the 79th minute but the Panthers held from there to clinch the win.

The Panthers play at Brevard on Friday and at Covenant on Saturday in USA South games.
