Women's Soccer: Georgia Southwestern edges Panthers 2-1

AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern edged LaGrange 2-1 in a non-conference game Saturday. It was the season opener for the NCAA Divison II Hurricanes, while the Panthers are now 0-2.

Tori Cutlip's goal off a rebound late in the first half tied the game 1-1. Andrea Richard assisted on the score.

The Hurricanes got the go-ahead goal in the first two minutes of the second half. Kristi Sheridan scored off a corner kick from Avery Heid.

DeAundra Green started in goal for the Panthers, while Saige MacLeay played the second half. The pair combined for 10 saves in the game.

The Panthers host Berry on Wednesday in their home opener beginning at 7 p.m.
