Women's Soccer: Panthers knock Ferrum from the ranks of the unbeatens with 2-1 win

LaGrange knocked visiting Ferrum from the ranks of the unbeatens with a 2-1 win Sunday at Panther Field. The Panthers evened their USA South record at 1-1, while upping their overall mark to 2-5.

The Panthers opened the scoring less than 10 minutes into the game. Tori Cutlip sent a crossing pass to Taylor Poole, who shot the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Panthers carried the lead into halftime.

The Panthers continued to hold the lead into the second half. They padded their lead with 13 minutes left. Kelsey Lewis headed in a corner kick by Tori Cutlip to make it 2-0. It was the first goal of the season for Lewis.

Lewis' goal became even bigger when Ferrum scored three minutes later to cut the lead to 2-1. But the Panthers held on to the lead to secure the win.

Carly Farrow got the win in goal for the Panthers. She had four saves in the game.

The Panthers host Toccoa Falls in a non-conference game Wednesday at 7 p.m.
