Women's Soccer: Maryville blanks Panthers 5-0 in GSAC match

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Great South Athletic Conference leader Maryville stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 5-0 win over LaGrange on Saturday. The Panthers dropped to 0-2-1 in conference play and 2-8-1 overall.

Maryville got goals from five different players. Ashley Howarth had a goal and two assists for the Lady Scots.

Maryville had a 19-3 shot advantage and the Panthers had only one shot on goal. Mary Robertson's had the only shot late in the first half.

The Lady Scotts scored eight minutes into the match. They broke the match open with goals by Lydia Fuson and Howarth in a span of less than two minutes in the first half in building a 3-0 lead. The Lady Scots added two second half goals for the 5-0 final.

Panther goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro had seven saves in the match, all coming in the second half.

The Panthers play at Oglethorpe on Wednesday.
