LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange College athletics looks forward to an eventful weekend from March 20
th to March 22
nd, both at home and on the road.
Baseball
The LaGrange College baseball team hosts Asbury University in a three-game Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) series this weekend. The Panthers play the Eagles in a double-header starting at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by the finale on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
The Panthers (11-10, 0-3 CCS) are looking to snap out of a four-game losing streak, despite averaging 8.75 runs per game during that stretch. Senior
Curt Bonner (Cartersville, Ga.) leads the team with a .337 / .434 / .456 line with 26 RBI and seven extra-base hits. Senior
Colin Jones (Duluth, Ga.) has provided the power with .315 / .521 / .454 with two home runs and 28 RBI while drawing a team-high 15 walks. Freshman
Collin McGhee (Ball Ground, Ga.) has been a revelation at lead-off with a .372 batting average, 11 walks and nine stolen bases. Senior
Trystin Merson (Dallas, Ga.) leads the pitching staff with a 3.03 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
Softball
The LaGrange College softball team returns to action this weekend when they host Covenant College on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and Maryville College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in a pair of CCS double-headers, the opening of their conference schedule.
The Panthers (5-15, 0-0 CCS) are led by senior
Claire Chamberlain (Rome, Ga.). Chamberlain is batting .339 at the plate with 21 hits and eight walks. Sophomore
Cannon Ramsey (Tallahassee, Fla.) is hitting .286 with a team-high seven stolen bases. Sophomore
Addi Grace Dennis (Grayson, Ga.) has 11 hits and a team-high seven RBI.
Men's Lacrosse
The LaGrange College men's lacrosse team travels to Methodist University on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. game against the Monarchs.
The Panthers (0-6, 0-2 USA South) are looking for their first win of the season. Senior
Nicholas Murciano leads the team with 18 goals while senior
Tyler Abrams has posted seven goals and nine assists.
Women's Beach Volleyball
The LaGrange College women's beach volleyball team travels to Emmanuel University for six matches on Friday and Saturday, playing the host Lions as well as teams from Colorado Mesa University and Carson-Newman University.
Track & Field
The LaGrange College track & field teams will travel to the Emory Spring Break Challenge this weekend for their second outdoor competition of their inaugural season.
Men's Golf
The LaGrange College men's golf team will travel to the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational hosted by Oglethorpe University this weekend.
