LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College Panthers are back in action this weekend as we enter the home stretch of the spring season.
Men's Lacrosse
The LaGrange men's lacrosse team (1-10, 1-6 USA South) plays host to William Peace University on Saturday at Callaway Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
The Panthers will be holding their Senior Day ceremony after the game, where
Lawrence Johnson-Chambers,
Nicholas Murciano,
Tyler Abrams and
Hammond Folsom will be recognized for all their contributions throughout their time with the program.
Murciano leads LaGrange this season with 27 goals and seven assists. Abrams comes into the game with 16 goals and 18 assists.
The Pacers of William Peace (8-8, 1-6 USA South) are led by William English with 26 goals and 32 assists.
Baseball
The LaGrange baseball team (15-15, 4-8 CCS) plays host to nationally-ranked Piedmont University this weekend in a critical three-game CCS series. The teams play at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Panthers will be hosting their annual Alumni Day on Saturday, welcoming back many of the greats in the program's history.
LaGrange is led by
Jackson McElvy, hitting .361 with 43 hits, 22 walks and 22 stolen bases.
Curt Bonner has provided the power, hitting .333 with 40 RBI.
The Lions of Piedmont (24-9, 10-2 CCS, #21 in d3baseball.com poll) are led by Jack Ryan, hitting .315 with four home runs and 44 RBI.
Softball
The LaGrange softball team (12-20, 7-5 CCS) plays host to Asbury University this Saturday in a 12:00 p.m. conference double-header.
The Panthers are led by
Claire Chamberlain who has produced both at the plate and at the circle, posting a .327 batting average with 33 hits with twelve walks while posting a 4.03 ERA. Rookie shortstop
Kamie Gibby has emerged as a power-threat of late, leading the team with 11 extra-base hits and 14 RBI.
The Eagles of Asbury (15-13, 5-3 CCS) are led by Abigail Moffat with a .358 batting average and 29 RBI.
Men's & Women's Tennis
The LaGrange men's and women's tennis teams play host to Coastal Alabama C.C. on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in their final regular season matches of the year.
Women's Beach Volleyball
The LaGrange women's beach volleyball (9-21) continue their best season in school history this weekend when they travel to the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Friday and Saturday.
The Panthers begin pool play on Friday at 10:00 a.m. when they play second-ranked Berry College, followed by a match against fifth-ranked East Texas Baptist University at 1:30 p.m.
LaGrange's results against these two regional powers will determine their seeding come the championship round on Saturday.
LaGrange's number one duo of
Alex Krabs and
Julia Damico enter the tournament having won four consecutive matches dating back to March 25
th. The Panthers took a major step forward last Saturday when they beat Huntingdon College for the first time in school history.
Track & Field
The LaGrange College track and field program get their final tune-up before conference championships on Saturday when they travel to the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The Panthers are led by
Ryheem Mighten, who has earned two CCS Track Rookie of the Week awards and one CCS Track Athlete of the Week honors. Mighten currently ranks first in the CCS in the 400 meter dash and second in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash events.
Khristian Bells leads the women's team, ranking first in the CCS in the long jump and triple jump, second in the 200 meter dash and fourth in the 100 meter dash.
