LaGrange Athletics for Weekend of April 10th – April 12th

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College Panthers are back in action this weekend as we enter the home stretch of the spring season.

Softball

The LaGrange softball team (10-18, 5-3 CCS) are back on their own field for the first time in three weeks when they play host to Wesleyan College (4-24, 0-10 CCS) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at the LC Softball Complex in a conference double-header.

The Panthers are led by Claire Chamberlain who has produced both at the plate and at the circle, posting a .344 batting average with 31 hits with ten walks while posting a 4.29 ERA. Chamberlain reached the 100 career hit milestone this past week at Piedmont. Jenna Yeary is enjoying a breakout senior season, as she's running with a 2.85 ERA. Cannon Ramsey is hitting .283 with a team-leading ten RBI.

Prior to the game, the Panthers will be recognizing their senior class as part of Senior Day. Chamberlain and Yeary will be joined by Katelyn Minnihan and Abby Hefner as they are recognized for all their outstanding achievements with the program over the years.  

Women's Beach Volleyball

The LaGrange women's beach volleyball team (8-20) hosts their final regular season competition of the season on Saturday when they host Huntingdon College in a 1:00 p.m. double-header.

Both of the Panthers' previous two matches against the Hawks have been nail-biters, going 3-2 in favor of the Hawks. L.C. has the chance to beat their I-85 rivals for the first time in the history of the program.   

Flag Football

The LaGrange flag football team (2-12) will conclude their inaugural season on Saturday when they host a tri-match against Milligan University at 1:00 p.m. and Huntingdon College at 4:00 p.m. in Callaway Stadium.

Baseball

The LaGrange baseball team (15-12, 4-5 CCS) travel to Belhaven University this weekend for a three-game CCS series against the host Blazers (20-8, 5-4 CCS).

The Panthers have one of the best leadoff-pairs in the regions with Collin McGhee and Jackson McElvy. McGhee is hitting .347 with a team-high 42 hits and a pair of CCS Rookie of the Week awards while McElvy is hitting .349 with 21 walks and 22 stolen bases. Curt Bonner has emerged as a dominant power hitter, hitting .346 with 38 RBI. Trystin Merson leads the pitching staff with a 3.88 ERA and 42 strikeouts.

The Blazers are led by Austin Canale, hitting .381 with 40 hits and 31 RBI. Gunner Staten has posted a 2.79 ERA 29 strikeouts.

Men's Lacrosse

The LaGrange men's lacrosse team (1-8, 1-4 USA South) travels to Southern Virginia University on Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. conference game.

Nicholas Murciano leads the Panthers with 27 goals and five assists while Tyler Abrams has scored 14 goals with 17 assists. Alex Mann is averaging 16.55 saves in net.

Tennis

The LaGrange men's and women's tennis teams will host Coastal Alabama Community College on Sunday at the L.C. Tennis Courts.
