LAGRANGE, Ga. – Senior guard
Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) of the LaGrange College women's basketball team has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Player of the Week for the week ending January 25
th, 2026, in an announcement by the conference on Monday.
Battle delivered an efficient and impactful performance to lead LaGrange to an 89-60 conference victory over Belhaven. The senior guard finished the game with 26 points, while shooting 73 percent from the field and an impressive 83 percent from both three-point range and the free-throw line. Battle also contributed across the stat sheet, adding one rebound, two assists, and one steal.
It is Battle's second CCS Player of the Week award this season. She was previously recognized for the week ending November 16
th. Her teammate, senior power forward
Amanda Mclendon (Orlando, Fla.), earned her CCS Player of the Week accolade last week for the week ending January 19
th, giving the Panthers back-to-back POTW awards for the first time this season.
At press time, Battle is averaging 16.4 points per game this season with 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 steals. She is third in the conference in scoring.
The Panthers are 11-6 overall this season with a 7-1 record in league action, currently holding first place in the CCS standings.
LaGrange is back on the court on Saturday, January 31
st when they travel to Maryville College for a 2:00 p.m. trip.
