The Panther family was stunned to learn of the passing of student-athlete Marquis Rice, who lost his life in a tragic swimming accident during the July 4th weekend. A treasured member of the Panther Football team, Marquis displayed heart, intensity and commitment both on and off the field.

A standout defensive back from Mary Persons High School, he had just finished his freshman campaign with the Panthers in 2024. He was part of Coach Wes Dodson's historic 2024 recruiting class that helped lift LC to its best record since the 2008 season, earning a second-place USA South finish in the process.

A funeral service celebrating Marquis' life will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Freeman Funeral Home (6 Brentwood Street, Forsyth, GA 31029). We continue to keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
