LAGRANGE, Ga. - The LaGrange College Baseball Team (7-6) gets set for a potential milestone-surpassing weekend (Mar. 7-9), as head coach
David Kelton sits on the cusp of his 300th-career win with the chance to notch the historic victory against Berry College (8-6) and Marietta College (3-2).
The Matchups
The Panthers enjoyed a clean sweep this past weekend, toppling the Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan in a three-game series. LC edged the Vikings earlier in the season at the LaGrange College Classic in a 9-2 final from Cleaveland Field at Williamson Stadium. Saturday's matchup with Marietta College will be the first in the school's modern-era history (2011-Present) as they look to tally a win against a program that has seen six Division-III national championships.
Berry has found a relative stride since their loss to LC, winning five of the last eight contests, including a 12-9 shootout thriller over Belhaven University. The Vikings are no stranger to offense, scoring 158 runs at 11.2 runs per game.
As for the Pioneers, their season began against incredibly stiff competition in the form of three-straight top 15 matchups. After snagging a pair of wins in a doubleheader against Wilson College this past weekend (Mar. 1), they will certainly look to edge the Panthers in a neutral-site setting when the two meet in Mount Berry for their first showdown in each school's respective modern history.
