Panthers finish 28th in Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island, Ga. - The LaGrange College Men's Golf Team finished in 28th place at the Jekyll Island Collegiate this past weekend (Mar. 21-23). The tournament was played down on the Atlantic Coast in Jekyll Island, Ga. The tournament was hosted by Oglethorpe University on the Pine Lakes & Indian Mound Golf Courses at Jekyll Island Golf Club.

Tournament Recap
LC started on Friday (Mar. 21) with a late afternoon tee time. The Panthers struggled on the front nine but played a solid final nine holes to shoot a 307. Jay Manley and CJ Kilkelly both shot an even-par 36 to stabilize LaGrange into 28th place after day one. The Panthers improved on Saturday morning (Mar. 22), shooting a 303 in round two. Junior Eli Rogers led LC, shooting a team-high 73. Even with the improved score, the Panthers stayed in 28th place. With the bottom six teams (#25-30) playing a different golf course for round three, LC had a unique challenge in front of them.

LaGrange shot another 307 in the final round. The highlight of the day was when Kilkelly made an eagle two on the par-four fifth hole. The Tampa, Fl native holed out from the fairway en route to a final round 79. Rogers again led the Panthers on the final day, shooting 74 to help maintain the 28th place finish.
