Panthers storm back to beat the OU Petrels 12-8

Box Score A three-run homer by Joe Ruth, an explosive scoring rally by the Panthers in the eighth inning and strong pitching efforts combine to clinch LC's impressive 12-8 comeback victory over Oglethorpe University (April 2). This win secures LC the two-game season series sweep.

Game Details
The first LC player on the mound today was Nash Evans. In just over nine innings pitched this season, the junior sits with a 7.71 ERA currently. The Stormy Petrels quickly loaded the bases in the bottom of the first. With a man on each base, a walk put the Petrels on the board first. OU finished the inning up 4-0 after hitting a two-run RBI and a pair of sacrifice flies. In the following inning, LC responded by also loading the bases. Riley George hit the first Panther in on a sacrifice fly RBI. Joe Ruth added another runs when he hit Fletcher Hislop home. In the bottom of the second, Tyson Harnage relieved Nash on the mound. OU answered with three runs over the next two innings. In the third, Harnage rotated out for Jack Richards.  During the fourth, Joe Ruth crushed a three-run homer to cut the OU lead to 7-5. Still in the fourth, the Stormy Petrels scored on an RBI. Eli Folds came in to replace Richards in the seventh with the game still at 8-5 OU.  In this inning, Gabriel Pallo started the LC scoring run when he singled to center, driving in a Panther. LC tied the game at 8-8 after Riley George hit a RBI single followed by a Joe Ruth sacrifice fly RBI. Still in the eighth, Colby Zinser was walked with the bases loaded, securing the Panthers a 9-8 lead. With two outs and? two men on, Jorge Forgoso hit a fielder's choice RBI. In the ninth,  Joe Ruth placed a great hit into deep center field for a two-run RBI double. LC held on to win 12-8.
