LC Softball sweeps the Wolves of Wesleyan

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Panthers beat Wesleyan College 6-3 and 13-1 in final home doubleheader (April 19).

Game one detail
Claire Chamberlain started for the Panthers in game one. The sophomore from Rome, Ga. has a 4.61 ERA in 92 innings pitched this year. WC scored the first points of today. In the top of the fourth, the Wolves drove in a runner with an RBI single. In the following inning, WC extended their lead to 2-0. The Panthers bats came alive in the fifth inning. LC took a 5-2 lead after Alexa Gonzalez, Katelyn Minnihan and Abby Hefner each crushed an RBI. The Wolves responded with a run during the sixth. Still in the sixth inning, LC added another run on a Zoe Veres RBI. The Panthersheld on to win 6-3. In seven innings pitched, Claire Chamberlain had two strikeouts and allowed three runs off of three hits.

Game two details
Jenna Yeary was the first Panther on the mound in game two. In 57 innings pitched this year, she has posted a 5.77 ERA. The Wolves grabbed a 1-0 lead after an LC throwing error allowed a base runner to score during the first inning. LC responded with an RBI double hit to the center field fence by Katelyn Minnihan. Still in the first, Abby Hefner placed a perfect hit behind third base, bringing in another Panther. LC finished the inning up 2-1. During the third, the Panthers added another run when a Wolves throwing error allowed Claire Chamberlain to steal home. Brooke Coleman then hit two more Panthers home, extending the LC lead 5-1. Still in the third, Lindsey Swearngin and Alexa Gonzalez each hit an RBI, bringing the lead to 7-1. During the fourth, Brooke Coleman annihilated the ball for a three-run triple. Coleman then was hit home on an RBI double by Lindsey Swearngin to put the Panthers up 11-1. Still in the fourth, Swearngin stole home on a wild pitch. LC was not done scoring yet. Lindsey Green crushed an RBI, adding another run. The Panthers won 13-1 in five innings.  In five innings pitched, Jenna Yeary finished with four strikeouts and one run off of one hit.
