OXFORD, Ala. – The LaGrange College softball team saw their 2026 season come to an end on Thursday evening in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) quarterfinals at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama, as the fifth-seeded Panthers (14-24, 9-7 CCS) fell 7-1 to the third-seeded Lions of Piedmont (26-15, 11-5 CCS).
The two conference rivals found themselves in a pitching duel until the bottom of the third when a Piedmont error allowed LaGrange to get on the board as sophomore shortstop
Cannon Ramsey (Tallahassee, Fla.) scored from third to put the Panthers ahead 1-0.
Piedmont answered in the top of the fifth inning, reeling off six runs to take a 6-1 lead. An insurance run in the top of the sixth would increase the lead to six.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Panthers loaded the bases with two outs after a single from freshman right fielder
Kamie Gibby (McDonough, Ga.). But freshman first baseman
Bailey Gamel (Dallas, Ga.) flied out to end the game and the LaGrange softball season.
Congratulations to the whole team on the conclusion of their season.
