Game one details
Eduardo Peralta started on the mound for the Panthers. In 20 innings pitched, Peralta has posted a 4.50 ERA (faced two top-25 teams). LC grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first after
Jorge Fragoso drove in a Panther on an RBI single. In the second inning,
Fletcher Hislop crushed the ball into the center field wall, resulting in an RBI triple.
Jackson McElvy extended the LC lead to 3-0 when he hit a sacrifice fly RBI. In the third,
Brody Hollingsworth continued the Panthers scoring run with an RBI single of his own. Still in the third,
Curt Bonner placed a perfect hit above the third baseman for a two-run RBI single. LC ended the inning up 7-0 after Hislop batted his second RBI of the day. During the top of the fourth, Berea scored their first points on an RBI single. In the fifth, Peralta was relieved of his pitching duties by
Jack Richards. Berea cut the Panthers lead to 7-2 after a wild pitch allowed a Mountaineer base runner to walk home. Going into the seventh, LC led 7-2. During this inning, Richards was replaced by
Evan Jackson. Still in the seventh, Jackson rotated out for
Benjamin Epperley. The Panthers extended their lead to 9-2 on two RBIs by
Curt Bonner and
Fletcher Hislop. JJ Fragoso wrapped up the seventh inning with a two-run RBI. The Panthers would secure a 12-2 win after
Jackson McElvy hit a sacrifice fly RBI to end the game in the eighth.
Game two details
Logan Willis pitched for the Panthers in game two. In just over 15 innings pitched this season, Willis sits at a superb 2.35 ERA. In the bottom of the first, the Panthers hit back-to-back RBIs to go up 3-0. The first was a two-run double by
Colby Zinser and the second RBI was a single by
Jorge Fragoso. Still in the first inning,
Adam Dorn drove in Zinser on a single to center. Berea responded with two two-run homers in the second, tying the game at four. Willis was replaced by
Nick Morgan during this inning. In the fourth, it looked like the visitors were going to take a 5-4 lead on an RBI single. That was until
Jackson McElvy made an incredible throw to first to get the third out of the inning. LC grabbed a 5-4 lead when
Carson Burgamy drove in
Gabriel Pallo in the bottom of this inning. In the fifth, Morgan was replaced on the mound by
Eli Folds. In the fifth, Berea tied the game at 5-5. The game stayed tied until
Gabriel Pallo hit Hollingsworth home on a single in the seventh. Still in the seventh inning,
Adam Dorn extended the LC lead to 7-5 after a wild throw allowed him to steal home. The Panthers added three more runs this inning off of a sacrifice fly by
Fletcher Hislop and a pair of RBI singles by
Jackson McElvy and
Colby Zinser. In the eighth
Benjamin Epperley relieved Folds. Epperley was quickly rotated out for
Nash Evans after walking three batters. Going into the bottom of the eighth, LC led 10-7 after they hit a two-run RBI.
Brody Hollingsworth started the eighth inning crushing a homer over the left field wall.
Noah Preuer brought the score to 12-7 on a RBI single. LC finished the inning up 16-7 after
Jackson McElvy,
Rhett Mixon,
Colby Zinser and
Jorge Fragoso each hit RBIs. LC won 16-7.
Panther pitchers
Sophomore
Eduardo Peralta was the first Panther pitcher today. In four innings, he finished with a solid seven strikeouts and only allowed one run.Â
In game one, senior
Jack Richards came in to replace Peralta. Richards threw two strikeouts and allowed one run through two innings.
Sophomore
Evan Jackson pitched in one inning during game one. He did not allow a hit or a run.
In the seventh inning of game one, senior
Benjamin Epperley came in to relieve Jackson. Epperley had one strikeout and prevented the visitors from scoring.Â
Freshman
Logan Willis started in game two. In two innings pitched, he had two strikeouts and let up four runs.
In game two, junior
Nick Morgan came in during the second inning. In three innings pitched, Morgan had two strikeouts and allowed three hits and no runs.
In game two, Morgan was relieved in the fifth inning by sophomore
Eli Folds. Hare threw in two innings, finishing with one strike and allowing one run.
Senior
Benjamin Epperley pitched in one inning. He had one strikeout and allowed two runs.
Junior
Nash Evans closed out the game for LC. In just under two innings pitched he had one strikeout and prevented Berea from scoring.
