LC Softball sweeps CCS opener

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Panthers finished the day up 2-0 in the CCS after beating Covenant 10-2 and 6-2 (March 18).

Game one details
Jenna Yeary was the first pitcher for the Panthers today. She currently has a 5.15 ERA through the 34 innings pitched. During the first, Kelsea Moody put LC up 1-0 on an RBI to center. In the following inning, Claire Chamberlain stole home, extending the LC lead to 2-0. The Scots cut the lead to 2-1 in the third but the Panthers' hitting exploded in the fourth. Kenzie Hornsby started the scoring by crushing a line drive ball into left, bringing home a base runner. Still in the fourth, Alexa Gonzalez increased the LC lead to 7-1 when she sent the Scots pitch out of the ballpark for her first grand slam of the year. The game stayed at 7-1 until the Scots hit an RBI single in the sixth. The game ended in the sixth, after Zoe Veres, Abby Hefner and Jenna Yeary each hit RBIs. LC won 10-2. 

Game two details

Claire Chamberlain was the game two pitcher for the Panthers. In 44 innings pitched, she has a 4.77 ERA. Lindsey Swearngin put LC on the board when a throwing error let her walk home. Jaiden Gay extended the lead to 2-0 after another wild throw let her score. In the bottom of the second, some smart base running by Kenzie Hornsby allowed her to steal home. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Lindsey Swearngin hit a RBI single that fell between the second baseman and the center fielder. Alexa Gonzalez hit two more runners home with an RBI double. The Panthers led 6-0 going into the fourth. In the sixth, the Scots cut the lead to 6-2 on a RBI double to center.

Panther Pitchers
Sophomore Jenna Yeary in six innings. She had four strikeouts and only allowed five hits and two runs. 
In game two, sophomore Claire Chamberlain pitched seven innings. She had two strikeouts and allowed nine hits and two runs.
