Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 LC lost their first game to Berry 11-0 and the second game 15-3 to the visitng Vikings of Berry College (Feb. 17).
Game one details
Sophomore
Claire Chamberlain started on the mound for the Panthers in game one against the Vikings. The first score of today happened in the second inning when a hit to center drove in the Viking on first. Berry found most of their success in the third inning. The Vikings went up 4-0, thanks to a deep hit into right field combined with two LC errors, which allowed the batter and two Berry runners to score. Only two batters later, a Viking home run put BC up 6-0 in the third. It was only a few pitches that got away from the talented sophomore from Rome, Ga. Through five innings, Chamberlain had 33 strikes on 52 pitches. Berry would score three more in the top of the sixth to go up 9-0. This forced the Panthers to make the switch at the mound from Chamberlain to sophomore
Jenna Yeary. The Vikings went on to win 11-0 through six.
Game two details
Jenna Yeary continued her day on the mound in the second game against the Vikings. Berry would score a run in the first and second inning but really exploded in the third. Through three, the Vikings were up 7-0. Going into the fourth, the Panthers would switch pitchers to
Kelsea Moody. The LC hitting woes continued in the second matchup. Despite making contact, it seemed like each hit would go directly towards Berry's infielder to set up easy outs. That was until junior
Kenzie Hornsby stole home to put the Panthers on the board for the first time today in the fourth inning. In the same inning, LC added two more runs thanks to a pair of great hits from sophomore
Katelyn Minnihan and junior
Alexa Gonzalez drove in the base runners. Through four innings, LC trailed 7-3. Berry would respond in the fifth, scoring eight runs to go up 15-3. The Vikings would win 15-3 in five innings.
