Box Score 2 LaGrange rallied in the second game to gain a split of its USA South doubleheader with Covenant on Saturday at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium.
The Panthers' (5-9, 5-7 USA South) 4-3 win also enabled them to take the three-game series from the visiting Scots (7-7, 4-5 USA South), who took the first game 16-1.
The Panthers trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jim Reed started the inning with a walk and one out later Keith Sims also drew a walk. Reed and Sims executed a double steal to put runners at second and third.
Cain Sauls sent a soft liner into center to score Reed as Sims moved over to third. Casey Bell put a down a perfect sacrifice bunt as Sims came home and Sauls ended up at third on the play. Alec Redden drove the ball through the left side as Sauls scored to give the Panthers a 4-3 lead.
Blake Schuck, in relief of starter Zach English, pitched two scoreless innings of relief for his first save of the season. English (2-1) went seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out four.
The Panthers had seven hits, all by different players.
Eric Morell (1-4) took the loss in the first game. Logan Hood, Josh Bricker and Bruno Aurnhammer also pitched in the game.
Edwards and Sims each had two hits, as the Panthers finished with nine. Sauls' double was the Panthers only extra base hit in the two games.
The Panthers host unbeaten and 10th-ranked Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
