Box Score 2 ATLANTA, Ga. - LaGrange came back from a first game loss to get a split of a doubleheader with Oglethorpe on Tuesday at Anderson Field.
The Panthers (22-21) won 5-2 after the Stormy Petrels (14-26) 4-3 walk-off win in the first game.
Zach Tatham pitched 4-1/3 innings in his first start of the season. He gave up two runs on three hits, while walking five and striking out five.
Matt Steele (1-1) pitched the final 2-2/3 innings to get the win. Steele did not allow a hit and struck out three.
The Panthers did all of their scoring in the first two innings to take a 5-0 lead. Grey Bittinger had an RBI single in the first. Blake Schuck doubled in the first run of a three-run second.
Schuck went 2-for-2 in the game as the Panthers had eight hits. Anthony Iannetta had two hits also and an RBI.
Oglethorpe won the first game with a game-winning two-out double from Cory Leff off Gage Mooney (0-1).
Doug Scherer started and pitched the first four innings, allowing a run on five hits. He walked two and struck out six.
Tyler Brooks surrendered two runs in an inning of work. Mooney relieved Brooks and went the final 1-2/3 innings.
Josh Shiver and Brent Kinsey had four of the Panthers' seven hits. Shiver scored two runs and Kinsey had an RBI.
The Panthers host Huntingdon in a three game series beginning Friday.
