WILSON, N.C. - Piedmont downed LaGrange 9-1 at Fleming Stadium in the USA South Tournament on Thursday.

The loss dropped the Panthers to 16-16 on the season. They will play Greensboro on Friday at 10 a.m. in an elimination game.

Drew Williamson (1-5) started and took the loss for the Panthers. He allowed five runs; four earned, in five innings. Robby Williams, Gage Mooney and Matt Steele followed Williamson.

The Panthers led 1-0 after the first inning. Jon Brock's two-out RBI single scored Brent Kinsey.

The Lions got three runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. They scored at least one run in five of the last six innings for the 9-1 final.

The Panthers finished with seven hits in the game. No Panther had more than one hit.
