Box Score LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant scored the last 14 runs in beating LaGrange 16-2 on Friday in the first game of a three-game GSAC series. The Panthers fell to 11-17 overall and 3-1 in the GSAC.
Covenant (11-10, 3-4 GSAC) broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the fifth inning off Panther starter Mason Webster (2-4). The Scots added two more runs in the sixth, then broke the game open with five runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings.
Webster allowed six run on nine hits in six innings of work. Josh Bricker gave up five runs in an inning and Henry Jacobs four runs in 2/3 of an inning. Matt Steele surrendered a run in getting the final two outs of the eighth inning.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Brent Kinsey singled with one out. He went to second on wild pitch, took third on a ground out and scored as David Miller reached on an error.
Trailing 2-1, the Panthers tied the game in the top of the fifth inning. Miles Lee walked to lead off the inning and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Linwood Roberds. Lee went over to third on a wild pitch and scored on Evin Eichelberger's ground out.
The Panthers had six hits in the game. Kinsey had three of the hits with no other Panther having more than one.
The two teams conclude their series Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
