Huntingdon (7-1) had
377 yards rushing and 594 yards of total offense in the game. The
Hawks came into the game leading the NCAA Division III in total
offense, averaging 533 yards per game.
LaGrange quarterback Drew Carter was picked off six times by the
Huntingdon secondary. The Panthers also lost the ball one time on a
fumble. The miscues led to three Hawk touchdowns and killed three
drives inside the Huntingdon 25.
Huntingdon bolted to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Baronich
started the scoring with a 3-yard run on the opening drive of the
game. Following a Panther fumble, the Hawks scored again off a
halfback pass from Trevor Manuel to Steven Laye. Justin Ridgeway
finished a two-play 83-yard drive with a 35-yard pass to Willie
McDowell.
The Panthers' had two interceptions and a fumble on their first
four possessions. They got on the board on the last play of the
first quarter. Mario Wallace scored from the 6 to finish a short
5-play 17-yard drive to make it 21-6.
The Hawks drove 89 yards in nine plays to open up a 28-6 lead in
the second quarter. Ridgeway threw his second touchdown of the
half, a 12-yard strike to Walker Gantt.
Huntingdon tacked on three more touchdowns in the third quarter to
go up 49-6. Baronich had a pair of 1-yard runs sandwiched around
Ridgeway's third touchdown pass of the game. Baronich finished the
game with 32 carries, averaging 9.0 yards per carry.
Carter threw 30 yards to Devin Billings early in the fourth quarter
for the Panthers second score. The Hawks added a safety later in
the quarter for the 51-13 final score.
The Panthers take a week off before closing out their season Nov.
