LAGRANGE, Ga. – Senior defensive back Deon King Jr. (Vienna, Ga.) of the LaGrange College football team has been named the USA South Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 26, 2025, in an announcement by the conference on Monday.

King dominated on Saturday in the Panthers' 30-14 win over conference rival Huntingdon College, collecting five total tackles, including 3.5 sacks, and forced a fumble in a 30-14 win over USA South foe Huntingdon last week. King's sacks resulted in a total loss of 27 yards while his forced fumble came in the fourth quarter and led to a Panther touchdown three plays later which essentially put the game away.

The Panthers tied a school record with ten sacks against the Hawks on Saturday. King, a first team All-Conference honoree last season, helped LaGrange improve to 7-1 overall with a 4-0 record in the USA South standings, tied for first place.

King leads the Panthers in tackles-for-a-loss with 10.0 and in sacks with 6.5. At press time, he ranked second in the USA South in sacks per game and tackles for loss per game. As of this writing, LaGrange leads the nation in total sacks per game with 4.29 while ranking sixth overall in tackles for a loss.               

LaGrange is back on the field next Saturday when they travel to Greensboro College for a 1:00 p.m. game.
