Panthers travel to Jackson to do battle with Belhaven on Tuesday

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The LaGrange College Men's Basketball Team (4-9) heads to Jackson, Mississippi on Tuesday (Jan. 7) to take on the Blazers of Belhaven (10-3) in their second conference tilt of the year.

The Matchup
The Panthers are coming off a tough loss at Huntingdon College this past weekend, a game which saw them nearly mount a 19-point comeback to potentially steal the game from the Hawks, who unfortunately were able to stave off the upset and survive 82-73. LaGrange won both contests against the Blazers in 2024, each decided by less than seven points-apiece as they look to achieve that feat in back-to-back years in 2025. The Panthers will certainly have their work cut out for them, however, as they will have to take down a very strong Belhaven squad in order to secure a key season-defining win in the 2024-25 campaign.

As for the Blazers, they have rattled off five straight wins since losing a heartreaking two-point affair against #20 Whitworth College, beating the likes of Berry College, East Texas Baptist University and William Peace University. With their first conference bout of the season coming against LaGrange on Tuesday, however, they will finally have to put their early-season success to the test as they face a very hungry Panthers' team who will certainly be upset-minded heading into the matchup.

Players to Watch
After a relatively slow start to the season, Samuel Moss really came into his own on Saturday in a 21-point performance against Huntingdon. The sophomore guard out of Sharpsburg, Ga currently has 106 points, 39 rebounds and 14 steals so far this season.

The Blazers will look to their top rebounder Jacob Reese to set the tone in the physicality department on Tuesday. The senior forward leads both teams with 179 rebounds (88 defensive), in addition to a team-second-best 139 points. Reese earned CCS Player of the Week honors this past week for his performance against Millsaps in which he recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
