Men’s Basketball Earns Three CCS All-Conference Awards

LAGRANGE, Ga. – Three Panthers from the LaGrange College men's basketball team were voted to the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) All-Conference team in an announcement by the conference on Tuesday night.

Junior guard Devin Dowell (LaGrange, Ga.) was voted CCS All-Conference First Team while senior guard Micah McAllister (Newnan, Ga.) and sophomore forward Kani Rashied-Henry (Tyrone, Ga.) were voted Second Team All-CCS honors.

Dowell averaged 14.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game for the Panthers this season, leading the team in scoring and earning CCS Player of the Week honors on February 16th.

"Devin is a major reason for this team's success. He brings a great attitude, high energy and a team-first mindset every day. Devin is a good basketball player and a great young man." LaGrange head coach Kendall Wallace said of his star guard.

McAllister averaged 12.2 points per game with 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals. The senior led the team in assists and steals while ranking second in scoring and rebounding.

"Micah has been a great teammate for us all season." Wallace said. "He brings a level of energy for us that shows our underclassmen on how the game should be played. Micah shoots it well and has an uncanny ability to see plays before they happen."

Rashied-Henry emerged as a dominant inside presence for the Panthers this year, averaging 10.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game while shooting 57.7 percent from the floor. At press time, Rashied-Henry's 62 blocks so far this season are the fourth most in a season in school history.

"Kani is just realizing his basketball potential." Wallace said. "We rely heavily on his offensive and defensive prowess. Kani has played huge for us in many big games this season. His best basketball is ahead of him."

LaGrange senior forward Ford Barnes (Leeds, Ala.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Panthers play host to Asbury University on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariotti Gymnasium in the CCS Quarterfinals. Should they prevail, LaGrange will travel to Maryville College on Friday night for the CCS Semifinals.
