Men’s Basketball secures 87-69 win over Berea

Box Score With today's 87-69 win over Berea, the Panthers finish the regular season 1-1 against the Mountaineers. 

First half details
Today's game against Berea began similarly to yesterday's game. Both teams' offenses struggled to score. Five minutes in, Berea was up 4-2 and both teams had already missed three three-pointers each. In the first media time-out, both teams started to settle in. At the ten-minute mark, LC led 14-11. The Panthers grabbed the lead thanks to a Shaun Nichols three-pointer. LC extended their lead to 18-11 when Jace Herrell had consecutive clean passes that immediately led to points. The Panthers held on to lead at the halftime break, 37-32. Brodie Scott contributed heavily to this lead after he exploded on offense late in the half. Scott finished half with a team-high 10 points, shooting 38% from the field and 50% from three. He also had six rebounds and one assist. As a team, the Panthers shot 50% from the field and 12% from three.

Second half details
Both teams started the second half trading points. After the first five minutes, LC was up 47-43 after Kameron McCall hit two threes on back-to-back possessions. Just a few possessions later, McCall again hit a pair of threes. With 11 minutes left, the Panthers led 58-51. Over the next few minutes, both teams traded points and with seven remaining, LC led 67-57. Camerin Lyons extended the Panthers lead to 73-59 with five minutes left when he hit Trenton Dillard with a clean pass for Dillard to knock down a three. The Panthers continued to put it on the host Mountaineers for the remainder of the game. LC would win 87-69. 

Top Panther performances
Kameron McCall scored a team-high 27 points, shooting an incredible 75% from the field and 86% from three. Brodie Scott secured another double-double on the season after scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Most of all, this was a team win. The Panthers shot lights out tonight. LC finished the day shooting 49% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

The Panthers return home to face Covenant this Friday (Feb. 9), at 7 p.m.
