Box Score The Panthers dropped the final home game of the year 94-88 to Piedmont.
First half details
Camerin Lyons and Gabe Cofield both began their senior day celebrations by each hitting an early three. The Panthers came out on offense fast on offense, jumping out to a 12-5 lead and forcing the Lions to call a time-out. Out of the break, Piedmont cut the LC lead to 20-17 by capitalizing on multiple Panther turnovers. LC would reestablish a big lead after Samuel Moss hit three threes and a midrange jumper coming off the bench. With under ten minutes left, LC was up 37-29. Late in the first half, Brodie Scott again showed how he is consistently willing to out work his opponents. When a missed Panther shot bounced off the backboard, Scott crashed the boards, high-pointed the rebound like a wide receiver and put back up a contested two. With under four minutes to go, LC led 46-39. The Panthers would hold on to a 59-46 lead going into the break. Samuel Moss finished the half with an incredible 22 points, shooting 80% from the field and 60% from three.
Second half details
The Lions opened the second half, going on a 10-2 run which forced an early Panther time-out. Despite the Panthers being in position, the Lions were nailing contested shots. With left 15 minutes in the half, Piedmont jumped out to a 65-63 lead. Over the next few possessions, the two teams traded points. Out of the 12-minute media time-out, LC began to run a full court press. This aggressive defense forced a bad Piedmont pass into the hands of Kameron McCall for him to finish the play with a contested layup. The game stayed neck and neck over the next four minutes, but Piedmont still held a two-point advantage. The Lions would continue to hit well covered contested shots. It seemed like anything they would throw up tonight would go in. With only three minutes remaining in the game, the Lions were up 88-80. The Panthers clawed back to cut the Piedmont lead to 92-88 with under a minute left. Sadly, Piedmont would do just enough to win 94-88.
Top Panther performance
