No. 19/22 LaGrange Hosts Huntingdon Looking To Clinch CCS Regular Season Championship

By Joshua J. Darling, Sports Information Director

LAGRANGE, Ga. – With three games remaining in the regular season, No. 19/22 LaGrange (25-12, 11-4 CCS) baseball looks to wrap up the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) regular season championship with a three-game series with Huntingdon (22-10, 8-5 CCS) from April 28-30. First pitch of the opener is slated for 7 p.m. under the lights with the middle game at 2 p.m. and the finale, Senior Day on Sunday, April 30, at 3 p.m.

The Panthers come in battling Belhaven (12-5 CCS), which has wrapped the regular season and lost all three to LC, and the Hawks, who close the slate in LaGrange. It would appear that at least two victories would secure the title as it would eliminate HC from the conversation and put the Panthers percentage points (.722 to .705) ahead of BU.

Huntingdon has put themselves in position to contend for the title with a series victory over Piedmont last time out. They pulled out a narrow 7-6 victory on April 21, fell 10-6 on April 22 and produced an 8-6 win on April 23.

SERIES HISTORY

LaGrange holds a narrow 41-37 advantage over the 78 meetings in a series that dates back to 2001. Neither team has had a dominant run in the series, with the Panthers winning five in a row from 2001-03 and HC taking five straight from 2012-14 as the longest streaks over nearly 80 games. Most recently LaGrange earned a series victory in 2022, winning 21-11 on April 29, falling 8-7 on April 30 and winning 9-4 on May 1.

MEDIA

Fans can follow all the action with live stats (Game 1, Game 2, Game 3) and live video and a full recap will be available on www.LaGrangePanthers.com, the official online home of Panthers Athletics, following the final out.
