No. 9/9 LaGrange Hits The Road For Three-Game CCS Set at Most Prevalent Opponent Piedmont

By Joshua J. Darling, Sports Information Director

LAGRANGE, Ga. – No. 9/9 LaGrange (22-7, 9-0 CCS) baseball looks to strengthen their hold in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) as they travel to Piedmont (17-11, 3-5 CCS) from April 15-16. As a result of schedule adjustments due to weather, the first day will see a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. with the second game at approximately 4 p.m. The finale remains at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 16.

The Panthers come having won four in a row, including three key victories over CCS challenger Belhaven. They notched a series sweep by scores of 6-5, 4-2 and 11-1 from April 6-7 and then beat Oglethorpe (4/11) by a 4-1 score.

Piedmont enters having just seen a three-game win streak against Berea (7-2 on 4/2), Oglethorpe (7-1 on 4/4) and Covenant (4-2 on 4/6) snapped by a 16-11 loss at the hands of the Scots on Tuesday, April 11.

SERIES HISTORY

It is the most prevalent series in LaGrange history when they face off against Piedmont, something they have done a total of 80 times since 2001. The Panthers hold a commanding 53-37 advantage in that time and won a series record five in a row twice, from 2009-10 and in five meetings in 2021.
