Box Score LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - LaGrange routed Covenant 97-58 in a USA South game Saturday. The Panthers upped their season record to 15-9 overall and 9-4 in conference play.
The win avenged a 98-95 overtime loss to the Scots (8-17, 3-11 USA south) at Mariotti Gym on Jan. 22.
The Panthers close out the regular season Sunday when they host Huntingdon at 5 p.m. With a win, the Panthers can clinch the second seed in next week's conference tournament at Maryville, Tenn.
The Panthers placed all five starters in double figures, led by Mark Wagner's 18 points. Patrick Dugger and Nick Mitchell each had 13 points, while Dustin Baxter and Patrick Dugger contributed 11 each.
The Panthers shot 47.1 percent overall in the game. They made 11-of-21 3-point attempts, their third most in a game this season. The Panther had their second best free throw shooting game, hitting 20-of-26 for a 76.9 shooting percentage.
The Panthers trailed the Scots briefly at the outset of Saturday's game. Wagner drilled a 3-pointer for a 7-4 lead and the Panthers never trailed again. The Panthers led 38-24 at halftime.
The Panthers' lead continued to grow in the second half. Leading 64-45, the Panthers blew the game wide open with a 16-0 run to build a 35-point cushion. Tyler Langston's basket in the closing seconds gave the Panthers their largest lead, 97-56.
