DANVILLE, Va. - Patrick Dugger's game-high double-double was not enough as Averett ended LaGrange's four-game winning streak with a 93-75 win over the Panthers at Grant Center on Saturday.

The Panthers (8-6, 2-1 USA South) suffered their first USA South loss. Averett upped its record to 6-8 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Dugger scored 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. The double-double was Dugger's team-leading seventh of the season.

Dustin Baxter followed Dugger with 16 points. Nick Mitchell added 12 and Denzel Robinson 11.

The Panthers could not overcome a first half cold spell. With the game tied at 17, Averett went on a 17-4 run to take the lead for good. The Cougars led 41-28 at halftime as the Panthers shot only 33.3 percent, making 1-of-11 3-point shots.

Mark Wagner's 3-pointer got the Panthers within nine points, 44-35, in the early going of the second half. The Panthers never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

The Panthers improved their shooting in the second half, shooting 46.2 percent.
