Box Score Lagrange College cruised past Berry College 99-57 at Mariotti Gym on Saturday night. The Panthers (3-6) ended a five-game losing skid and kept the Vikings (0-6) winless on the season.
Junior Joey Anderkavich and freshman Nick Mitchell each had 16 points for the Panthers. Catrell Maclin had 12 points, while Peter Munch and Denzel Robinson each had 11.
The Panthers shot a season-best 56.3 percent from the floor in the game. They shot a blistering 65.6 percent in the second half. The Panthers dominated the boards, outrebounding the Vikings 52-31. Ross O'Hara had eight rebounds to lead the Panthers.
The Panthers trailed only once in the game. Mitchell hit a jumper in the lane to put the Panthers up 4-3 and they never trailed again. Leading 15-12, the Panthers put the game out of reach with a 24-2 run over a 10-minute span. The Panthers led 49-21 at halftime.
Anderkavich scored 10 of his points in the first half. The Panthers outscored the Vikings 30-6 in the paint in the half. The Panthers had a 28-13 rebounding edge, including 11-3 on the offensive end. The Panthers' bench outscored Berry's 26-0.
The Panthers continued to pad their lead in the second half. Mitchell had 13 second half points. Maclin made 1-of-2 free throws to give the Panthers their biggest lead of the night, 93-48, with less than three minutes remaining.
The Panthers play at Rust on Tuesday. They host Millsaps on Friday and Christopher Newport on Sunday.
