Vaughn's double-double helps Panthers break losing skid

Freshman Marcus Vaughn tied season highs with a game-leading double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. It was Vaughn's third double-double of the season, two coming against Covenant. He had 15 points and 13 rebounds in the first meeting.

The 48 points by the Scots was the lowest by a Panthers' opponent this season. The Panthers held the Scots to 30.0 percent shooting in the game. The Panthers shot 42.9 percent for the game, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range.

The Panthers trailed only once in the game. The Scots led 16-15 with 8:44 left in the first half. Joe Cromwell's jumper put the Panthers ahead to stay. Stephen Tuck's 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining gave the Panthers a 32-25 halftime lead.

Vaughn scored the Panthers' first six points of the second half to open up a 38-27 lead. He hit his only 3-point attempt of the game and added a pair of free throws to give the Panthers their largest lead, 54-34, with 5:29 left in the game. The Scots got no closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Nic Whitfield was the only other Panther in double figures with 13 points. Stephen Tuck made his first start of the season, scoring a season-high eight points. Stephen Buchanan led the Scots with 12 points.
