FERRUM, Va.  - Ferrum topped LaGrange in a USA South doubleheader Saturday. The host Panthers won the first game 7-1 and took the second 3-1.

The Panthers are now 11-11 overall and 9-9 in conference play. They play at Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday in a non-conference game.

Drew Williamson pitched seven innings in the second game, allowing the three Ferrum runs, only two were earned. He struck out three and walked one. Tyler Brooks pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Josh Shiver had two of the Panthers' three hits. Both of Shiver's hits were doubles and he drove Brandon Espinosa with the Panthers' run. Blake Schuck had the Panthers' other hit.

In the first game, Doug Scherer gave up five runs in six innings. Derek O'Kelley and Gage Mooney finished on the mound for the Panthers.

The Panthers had six hits in the game, with Brent Kinsey and Cody Muren each having two hits. Keith Sims had a double and scored the Panthers' run.

The Panthers play at Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday in a non-conference game.
