MARYVILLE, Tenn. - LaGrange's 2025 season came to an end with an 8-4 loss to Huntingdon in the CCS Baseball Tournament on Sunday at Maryville College's Scotland Yard. The Panthers finished the season 19-23 and 10-8 in conference play.
The game marked the end of their LC careers for 11 seniors:
Adam Dorn,
Benjamin Epperley,
Nash Evans,
Hunter Garcia,
Riley George,
Caden Hare,
Nick Morgan,
Tray Owens,
Noah Preuer,
Eli Selby, and
David Smigelski. The group produced 114 wins playing for the Panthers.
The game, originally scheduled for Friday, had two inclement weather delays to push the game to Sunday. Huntingdon led 3-0 going to the bottom of the second inning on Friday before weather forced the delay.
Jorge Fragoso walked and stole second to open the second for LC. Preuer walked and an infield hit by
Carson Burgamy loaded the bases with one out. Fragoso came home on Collin Jones' sacrifice fly. to make it 3-1. Preuer and Burgamy pulled off a double steal to put runners on second and third. George walked to load the bases for the second time in the inning.
Preuer scored on a wild pitch to make it a one-run deficit. After a walk to
Jackson McElvy, Dorn came through with a two-run single through the left side to put the Panthers up 4-3.
The lead held until the fifth inning. Huntingdon scored three runs off reliever
Bryce Stephens (0-1) to retake the lead, 6-4. the Hawks added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings off Hare to build an 8-4 lead.Â
The Panthers put runners on in the ninth inning. Dorn reached on an error and
Curt Bonner walked. But the Hawks turned a double play to end the threat and the game.
The Panthers were held to five hits in the game. Burgamy had two of the hits and George added a double.
